The Garden
Hello, butterfly.
You were able to transform
Into something beautiful from something on the ground
Did you look at the others and knew you could try?
How did you know what to do?
I really envy you.
Hello, hummingbird
You work so hard, flapping non-stop.
Don't you get tired? That's amazing
For the nectar and the flowers, you do everything.
If I worked a fraction as hard as either of you
I'm sure my life would be beautiful too.
Note of Apology
I woke up in this place feeling dread
This is nothing like the stores I've read
My friends, three in all
They are drawn on this lonely wall
It's not much but the image comforts me
Even as copies of what friendship should be
It was enough, my world with three
Let's smile again like we used to
I'm not a good artist and their smiles are crooked
But that's how they exist
And I know I'll mess up if I try to fix it
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry for being me
I'm sorry for ruining your reality
